About the Tranky Doo:
The Tranky Doo was choreographed by Pepsi Bethel in the 1940s. Full of challenging high-energy steps, the Tranky Doo was saved from obscurity by the dance documentary "The Spirit Moves". There is also another version of the Tranky Doo choreographed by Frankie Manning. The Tranky Doo is known for a great deal of improvisation within its structure (more so than other line dances like the Shim Sham). While the Tranky Doo was originally choreographed to a 32-bar swing music structure, it is most often danced to Chick Webb's "The Dipsy Doodle", featuring Ella Fitzgerald.
This class is Intermediate Level and up. Class will move at a fast pace.
Some prior knowledge of swing line dances (the Shim Sham, Jitterbug Stroll, etc.) and solo jazz steps is recommended.
